Reporting to the Production Manager, the Acrylic Fabricator position consists of the following tasks:

 

Acrylic and Plastic Fabricator Main Duties:

 

  • Use of specialized machinery including heat benders, diamond polishers, flame polishing, jointers and cutters as part of manufacturing processes to create merchandising products and prototypes
  • Ability to create and set up jigs for standard processes
  • Must be able to read and understand technical/construction/assembly drawings
  • Sound understanding of raw materials including properties and applications and gluing, welding and bonding techniques
  • Communicate effectively as part of a team
  • Follows all Somerville health and safety programs and procedures
  • Other duties as required by Supervisor or Lead Hand

Reporting to the Metal Shop Manager, the Press Brake Operator is responsible for the programming, set up and production run of metal parts that meet dimensional specifications of mechanical engineered drawings.

 

Main Duties:

 

  • Operate Amada CNC brake press and other machinery used in the production process or assist other machine operators
  • Select proper punches and dies based on material thickness and type
  • Set up tooling, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment
  • Determine if tools are undamaged and in safe condition for use
  • Consistently produce usable product that meets dimensional specifications of engineered drawings
  • Read work orders and tag product as required
  • Lift materials, final products and items packed for shipment, manually up to 50 pounds
  • Work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
  • Keep all work areas clean and organized
  • Work in compliance with all ISO and OHSA and company standards, following all safety protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

 

Employment Requirements:

 

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working with sheet metal; experience with Amada equipment preferred
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications and a knowledge of engineered specified tolerances
  • Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven measurement and mathematical conversion skills including tape measures, angle gauges and calipers
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Understanding of metal and material properties and ability to distinguish metal types
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds

Somerville Merchandising, celebrating their 70th anniversary, is currently seeking an experienced Sign Fabricator to join their growing team.

With a minimum of 5 years’ experience, your qualifications will include:

  • A graduate of graphics/signage program
  • LPHV spray paint experience  ( low pressure-high volume wet spray painting )
  • Lamination
  • Large format digital printer operation (Colour management, file prep)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sign assembly and application techniques
  • Knowledge of silk screen process
  • Vinyl plotter operation and vinyl application
  • Familiarity with HP digital and Arizona large format printers, I-cutting and routing
  • Software requirements include Adobe Illustrator, FlexiSIGN, ONYX software

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Coordinator position consists of the following tasks:

Main Duties:

  • Plan and schedule daily and weekly workflow, critical paths for all production processes, monitoring and communicating changes as required to ensure on time delivery
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
  • Ensures all dates and status information on work orders are accurate and timely and communicated to all relevant parties
  • Coordinate and release vendor materials to meet daily/periodic production schedules
  • Inventory management including raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods  through maintenance of target levels, cycle-counting and physical inventory verification
  • Full support during physical inventory and reconciliation process
  • Issue purchase orders to keep commodity inventory and supplies to an optimized level without adversely affecting production
  • Ensure materials are correctly reported and issued to each work order on closing
  • Monitor production use, waste and scrap factors
  • Address and correct inventory discrepancies
  • Communicate with Project Management, Quality and Shipping departments to ensure clients orders ship to deadline
  • Work in compliance with Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems
  • Other duties as assigned

Employment Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems including inventory management and scheduling
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills including knowledge of pivot tables, V-lookup and report building
  • Outstanding communication ability both verbally and written
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures and practices
