Recycling Program
In effect since 1999, a major source of Somerville’s “Green Pride” comes from our in-house recycling and waste minimization program. We are able to offer our customers a unique product take-back that ensures waste to landfill is kept to a minimum.
Through this program, de-installed merchandisers are disassembled and separated for recovery and re-use in the marketplace. Common materials, once broken down, are streamed and accumulated for transport to material recovery facilities or recycling processing plants for raw material conversion. The ability to responsibly dispose of merchandisers and displays ensures our client products, logos and identifiers stay out of landfill. Somerville is proud to be able to provide this value-added service.
Somerville is a member of the Recycling Council of Ontario, a not-for-profit membership based organization that believes society must minimize its’ impact on the environment through waste minimization.
Somerville has voluntarily undertaken both waste and energy audits to assist them in their goal of becoming waste-free by 2015. Last year alone, we recycled:
- Over 65,000 pounds of plastics
- Over 15,000 pounds of metals

Somerville’s fleet of delivery vehicles are energy efficient diesel powered, providing 25% better fuel economy that equivalent gasoline powered trucks. A fleet monitoring system helps us to examine the behaviour of these vehicles and greatly reduces idle times during delivery and loading periods, while improving logistics by reducing trips and optimizing vehicle routing.
